SILVER SPRINGS, MD – Today the American Nurses Foundation (Foundation) and the American Academy of Nursing (Academy) are pleased to announce Honorary Fellows, Catherine (Kate) Judge, BA, and David Vance, PhD, MGS, MS. They will be inducted as Honorary Fellows at the School Life Policy Conference, held in Washington, DC on October 31 – November 2, 2024. Ms. Judge and Dr. Vance are honored for their extraordinary and lasting contributions to health care. and nursing in all their roles.

The Honorary Fellow designation is reserved for leaders who have demonstrated unwavering dedication to advancing the profession of nursing and supporting the School’s mission to improve health and achieve health equity through policy impact through nursing leadership. , innovation and science.
Catherine (Kate) Judge, BA, Executive Consultant, American Nurses Foundation has continued to cultivate a tradition of philanthropy in nursing, raising more than $62 million to advance this cause, in her leadership role as the foundation’s Executive Director for years twelve. In particular, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Queen Justice launched the Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses, the largest disaster campaign for nurses, raising more than $30 million during the 18 months. During her foundation career, Mrs. Judge was involved in leading many successful projects and collaborating with partners to provide funds and programs to many nurses, health care organizations, and society as a whole. These programs were from the Reimagining Nursing Initiative, the Nurse Well-Being: Building a Program for Peer Support and Leadership, and the Nursing Well-Being Initiative. Most importantly, Miss Judge also served as the executive producer of Defining HopeThe documentary, created by the famous filmmaker Carolyn Jones, focuses on the unique skills of nurses who provide health care to patients, and leads the introduction of a first-of-its-kind nursing education and delivery in charity. Mrs. Moaholi raised the visibility of nursing and advanced financial support for this work, which directly benefits health care throughout the country.
David E. Vance, PhD, MGS, MS, University Professor and Director of Research, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, is a world-renowned expert and leader in neuropsychology, neuro-aging and rehabilitation, who has worked with nurses for years more than twenty. Working as a consultant and research partner, Dr. Vance has a proven track record of creating long-term, diverse relationships. The outstanding contributions of Dr. Vance has advanced the knowledge, science of healthy aging, and treatment for people living with HIV, as well as other chronic conditions such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. The work of Dr. Vance’s training in psychology contributed to the development of treatment guidelines for cancer survivors with “chemo brain”. These cognitive training programs are now available free of charge at all public libraries and are offered through Medicare in more than 40 states. In addition, Dr. A clinical trial for neurological testing has been implemented in the HRSA Ryan White Program that serves 50% of the nation’s population living with HIV/AIDS.
